Hilke MacIntyre was born Germany and grew up near Kiel.
She studied architecture in Kiel and after her diploma in 1990 worked in Hamburg, Edinburgh and London. In 1996 she moved
to Scotland to concentrate on her own paintings, lino-cuts and ceramics.
"I paint, print linocuts and make ceramic reliefs in a simplified figurative style. Particular influences are
primitive art and the art of the early 20th century, so I enjoy the direct visual pleasure of composing shapes,
colours and patterns. My pictures are simply what I see around me."
