Graham Muir

Gallery 1

Graham Muir was born in Edinburgh in 1961 and began his training in glass at Edinburgh College of Art where he graduated in 1983 with a BA (Hons) in Glass Design. He subsequently worked for a number of small glass blowing studios while undertaking commissions, including engravings of dancers for the Saddlers Wells and the Royal Ballet Companies.

Between 1990 – 99 he was a visiting lecturer in glass design at the University of Sunderland, but since then has concentrated exclusively on developing his own work in his hot glass studio in the Scottish Borders. Here he designs and makes a wide range of studio glass including perfume bottles, stemware, bowls, vases as well as more complex cut and carved one-off exhibition pieces.

His aim has been to move away from traditional shapes in favour of design pieces that use simple graceful forms together with precise use of colour and colour combinations.

Although most of the pieces shown on these pages have now sold, others from the series are available. Please contact the gallery for futher images and details.

Prices range from £100 - £1,200
