Inspired by the rich cultural heritage and wonderful natural environment of Orkney, Sheila Fleet creates sophisticated
silver, gold and enamel jewellery. Of her many designs, the Castle Gallery regularly stocks the following : Pentland, Runic, Standing Stones, Flagstones,
Primula Scotia and the two newest designs, Cascade and Rowan.
In scottish lore, the Rowan Tree has been held as the 'Tree of Life', a protector from harm and a symbol of renewal.
The Cascade collection captures the shapes and colours of the Forss waterfall in Caithness.
The rare plant, Primula Scotia, is only found on maritime heath and is the inspiration for this
very pretty flower design, set off with a gold centre.
Orkney and Caithness are famous for their natural flagstone rock which has inspired this extremely popular collection.
Whilst megalithic stone structures from 3000BC have inspired the Standing Stone collection.
The stone age tomb at Maeshowe is the setting for some 12th century Viking runes. Using this as a spark for
inspiration, Sheila has created jewellery with runic inscriptions; the pendent reads 'Orkney Isle' and the ring 'dreams
of everlasting love'.
One of our most popular pieces is the Pentland Brooch, commemorating the stretch of water between Orkney and the
Scottish mainland. Other designs are available to order.
