Hazel Passmore

Gallery 1

Hazel gained a Bdes Hons Degree in Jewellery and Metalwork from Duncan of Jordanstone College in Dundee in 2001.

She had lived in Glasgow, London and Africa before returning to her native Inverness where she now lives and works, focusing on manipulating metals and creating unique and beautiful pieces of jewellery.

Texture, contrast and comfort are what Hazel aims for when making a piece of jewellery. She pushes the boundaries by melting the metals, reticulating and rolling them with indiscriminate materials such as embossed patterned paper and found objects. The ‘accidents’ which happen through this procedure create a new layer to Hazel’s library of surface finishes.

The hidden qualities of precious metals are endless to Hazel, especially now she is combining them with Precious Metal Clay (PMC), which is expanding her knowledge and collection of finished surfaces even further.

She has been exhibiting her distinctive pieces in galleries since 2001 and is steadily gaining a reputation for her unique jewellery, which is not only sculptural and organic but is comfortable to wear too.
