Michael Peckitt
Gallery 1
|
Although Michael’s training was in Fine Art, he worked with jewellery in order to bring his liking for colour and form into a size that could be worn as “dynamic fine art”.
Sadly he died in 2012 but his daughter, Miranda, is continuing the family business.
The jewellery is made from anodised aluminium which is a high quality metal that has had a current of electricity passed through it with the effect that it becomes the
permanent recipient to certain vegetable dyes. The metal then gets cut into the various different shapes for bangles, rings, earrings and necklaces.
Every piece is then carefully polished and finished by hand until the desired result is achieved. It is the process of cutting up the painted sheet that
makes each piece of jewellery totally unique. Miranda does not work to pattern and the technique doesn’t lend itself to working to commission.
Prices range from £25 - £150
