June Carey studied at Glasgow School of Art (1960-62) and Edinburgh College of Art (1978-82).
She is one of Scotland's most respected artists having served as a Council Member on many of the major Scottish societies
exhibiting at the R.S.A., Edinburgh.
A grant from the Arts Council in 2004 enabled her to visit India and this has provided a rich source of inspiration for her work.
There is a sensual and emotional aspect to her imagery which taps into subconsious fears and desires and this gives an 'edge' and
and sense of intrigue.
She has received awards including the Anna Redpath Award 1996, Scottish Arts Club Award 1993 and a Scottish Arts Council Grant 1988.
Her work is featured in numerous private and public collections worldwide including those of The Scottish Arts Council, Peter Gabriel and BBC Television.
