Angie Lewin studied Fine Art Printmaking at Central St. Martins College of Art and Design (1983-96) followed by a one year postgraduate course in printmaking
at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts.
After working in London as an illustrator, she studied horticulture and then a move to Norfolk prompted a return to printmaking and painting.
Her watercolour drawings have a beautiful lightness of touch. She uses pencil to sketch the design encorporating objects found in her studio and whilst out on
walks. Watercolour washes and coloured detail are added ontop, combining to create sensitive paintings with subdued and balanced tonal qualities.
Many of her watercolours are used as reference points for her prints such as 'Festival Mug (Working Drawing)'. Other new paintings featured here in Gallery 1 have been
painted especially for her solo show at the Castle Gallery and have been inspired by the flora of the Scottish Highlands and coastline.
These paintings will be for sale at the exhibition preview or by reservation. Please contact the gallery if you would like more details.
