Since completing her M.A. at Winchester School of Art in 1997, Shazia Mahmood has developed a quite unique style
of painting which combines inks and oil paint to capture rapidly changing light and weather effects and
the majesty of scenery. She is a dedicated and passionate painter and it is for this reason that her work will stand the test of time.
She enjoys working outdoors, invigorated by the wind, sea spray and tingle in the air. Back in her studio she paints using various tools including sponges and
palette knifes, creating marks that are organic and unplanned. Chance and random interference are essential to her work.
For her third solo show at the Castle Gallery she will be concentrating on coastal scenes from the West coast of Scotland, Cornwall and Northern Ireland; connecting three
different Celtic landscapes. Shazia hopes that you enjoy the show and is sorry that she can't be present at the preview but a second child is due any
day now!
The painting illustrated opposite,'Camusunary', (R.R.P. £820) will be raffled at the preview. The tickets are available from the Castle Gallery and only cost £5.00 each.
All proceeds from the sale of tickets will to to The Archie Foundation to help fund the new Children's Ward at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness. Please help us support this worthy cause.
