Michael Ross

Gallery 1 - Gallery 2

Michael Ross was born in 1967. When he was young he used to love to visit castles and harbours with his father (an accomplished icon painter) and these visits have had a lasting impression on the subject matter of his paintings.

Although Michael Ross orginally studied graphic art, as a painter he is entirely self-taught.

He lives and works in the North of Scotland and his idiosyncratic paintings are narratives inspired by Scottish folklore and culture. They include fishing villages, pubs and folk musician. Each painting tells a story. Realistic size and scale are immaterial to Michael and the central characters are painted larger than life to emphasise their importance.

His unique, illustrative style is now highly collectable with works in numerous collections worldwide.

New paintings now live on these gallery pages.

Prices range from £450 - £1,100
