Jonathan Shearer

Gallery 1

Jonathan Shearer studied at Cyprus College of Art and Grays Schools of Art, Aberdeen, graduating in 1993.

He now lives and works in the Highlands.

He draws inspiration for his atmospheric, elevational works from painters such as Turner and Horation McCulloch. He does not work from photographs, but prefers to experience the Scottish landscape first hand. He is a keen hill walker and takes his paints and a small easel with him into the mountains. His smaller oil paintings are often sketches, painted on the spot and it is this immediacy that provides the atmosphere and appreciation of changing weather conditions so characteristic of his work.

His work is featured in numerous private and public collections world wide including those of the Royal Scottish Academy, Cyprus College of Art, British Midland Airways, Edinburgh Airport and the Royal Cornhill Hospital and Inverness Museum and Art Gallery.

New paintings now live on these gallery pages.

Prices range from £325 - £3,495
