Katy Spong

Katy Spong was born in Uganda and grew up in East Africa. Now living in Argyll, Katy finds that aspects of this Highland landscape and in particular, the sense of wilderness and space, remind her of parts of Africa.

Katy continues to find interest in remote landscapes, but is also drawn to the interation between natural and human influences, forest cuttings, fence lines, roads, trails and views from windows.

Katy obtained a BA (Hons) with qualified teacher status from the University of West of England, Bristol in 1999.

Katy is at the beginning of her professional painting career and in a short time has developed a reputation for her work, which already features in numerous private collections.
