Katy Spong

Katy Spong was born in Uganda and grew up in East Africa. Now living in the Highlands of Scotland, she finds that aspects of this landscape and in particular, the sense of wilderness and space, remind her of parts of Africa.

She continues to find interest in remote landscapes, but is also drawn to the interation between natural and human influences, forest cuttings, fence lines, roads, trails, views from windows and bird life.

Katy obtained a BA (Hons) with qualified teacher status from the University of West of England, Bristol in 1999.

Recently she has begun more experimental work, combining printmaking techniques with collage and painting. In her relatively short professional career as an artist has developed a reputation for her work, which already features in numerous private collections.
