Arie Vardi

Arie Vardi was born in Chile in 1956 and now lives and works in Perthshire.

After graduating in Graphic Design from Jerusalem, he became a member of a Kibutz on the edge of the Negev Desert where he began to experiment with jewellery. In 1994, he was commissioned to make a gold brooch with a Tay pearl for the late Princess Margaret, which was presented to her at Edinburgh Castle.

His paintings are mainly landscapes and seascapes inspired by the elemental forces of nature. His brush marks often suggest a heightened emotional response to nature in turmoil whilst the colour and vibrancy of the work have been influenced by Arie’s Mediterranean roots. He paints in acrylic, mixed media and pastels.

He also has a deep connection with the Scottish countryside and in particular, with Perthshire and the West Coast, where he spends much time. He begins with sketches drawn on the spot and reference photographs. These are taken back to his studio where he works on the paintings. His work aims to capture the mood and emotion felt when originally contemplating this dramatic scenery.

His work is featured in private collections world wide.

Price range £650-£1180.
