June Carey studied at Glasgow School of Art (1960-62) and Edinburgh College of Art (1978-82).
She is one of Scotland's most respected artist having served as a Council Member on many of the major Scottish societies exhibiting
at the R.S.A., Edinburgh.
A grant from the Scottish Arts Council in 2004 enabled her to visit India and this has provided a rich source of inspiration for her work.
There is a sensual and emotional aspect to her imagery which taps into subconsious fears and desires and this gives an 'edge' and
a sense of intrigue.
She has received awards including the Anna Redpath Award 1996, Scottish Arts Club Award 1993 and a Scottish Arts Council Grant 1988.
Her work is featured in numerous private and public collections worldwide including those of The Scottish Arts Council, Peter Gabriel and BBC Television.
