Julia Smith (b. 1974) studied ceramics at Glasgow School of Art and now works from her quiet garden studio in Ardersier overlooking the Moray Firth, where she throws and hand-builds with earthenware clay. Illustrated transfers are applied to the surface and fired to give sharp clean lines as a contrast to the fuzziness of the glaze.
The natural environment, wildlife, industrial design and the Japanese wabi-sabi aesthetic are a few of the things which inspire her range of pottery.
The pieces shown below are indicative of the ranges we stock on a regular basis . Works for sale will vary from images shown as each piece is individually handmade.
