Julia SmithJulia Smith (b. 1974) studied ceramics at Glasgow School of Art and now works from her quiet garden studio in Ardersier overlooking the Moray Firth, where she throws and hand-builds with earthenware clay. The natural environment where she lives strongly influences what she makes. Her glaze colours are reminiscent of seascapes with light reflected on the water or mist rolling in. Drawings of mountains, forests, animals and trees feature often in her drawings which she fires on to the glazed surfaces.
