Mike Hunter

Michael Hunter (b. 1958) served his apprenticeship with Wedgwood Glass but most of what he has achieved since has been self-taught. Inspired by a fascination with 18th century glass, he taught himself how to embed coloured glass canes and air into the stems of glassware - a skill that few contemporary glassblowers have been able to master. His spirit bowl range is one of his most popular and was designed after seeing a documentary on Tibetan monks who used bowls of this shape that ring to create different moods. His work is featured in ‘Scotland’s Glass 1610 - 2010 : 400 Years of Glassmaking’.
