Gillian Jones

Gillian Jones was born in 1966 in Keith, Banffshire and now lives and works on the Black Isle. Gillian's wood engravings display a delicate fluency in mark-making as she cuts into lemon or boxwood blocks with fine tools, looking down a magnifying glass. The surface is then inked with a roller and printed by hand using a printing press onto handmade Japanese paper. Her subject matter is her local environment, Cromarty, Inverness and the pleasures derived from her garden.
