Steve Smith throws beautifully tactile and evocative porcelain vessels from his studio in the Scottish Borders. His pots are minimalist and sophisticated. The combustion in his kiln of raw materials foraged from the hills together with wire wool, oxides and salts results in some dramatic smoke-fired pots. Whilst the decorative matt brushwork of his seascape-inspired vessels is perfectly contrasted with the smooth cool interior glaze.
